Monkee Genes syntyi vuonna 2006 seurauksena
turhautumisesta ja kyllästymisestä farkkuteollisuuteen.
Phil Wildbore on ollut muotialalla yli 25 vuotta ja perustanut
ROAD JEANS -muotimerkin 1980-luvulla.
Wildbore huomasi, että katumuodin nouseva trendi
oli kertakäyttöisyys. Kokemuksesta hän tiesi, että halvat
merkit olivat halpoja syystä – alhainen myyntihinta
tarkoittaa tappiota toisaalla. Wildbore päätti perustaa
farkkumerkin, joka paitsi tarjoaa tuoreita, kiinnostavia
ja innovatiivisia malleja, myös korjaa muotituotannon
epätasapainoa. Monkee Genes tuotetaan puhtaalla
omatunnolla, ihmisiä ja maapalloa kunnioittaen.
Soill Association-järjestö on myöntänyt Monkee Ge-
nesille arvostetun luomusertifikaatin. Järjestön merkin
saaminen edellyttää tiukkojen luonnonmukaisuusvaatimusten
täyttämistä, sekä vierailuja ja yllätystarkastuksia
tuotannon tehtaisiin. Tätä todistusta luonnonmukaisesta
laatujärjestelmästä löytää vaatteista vain harvoin.
Wildbore ryhtyi oikomaan farkkuteollisuuden vääryyksiä
luomusertifikaatti ja reilut työolot aseenaan, yksi luomufarkkupari
kerrallaan.
Monkee Genes valmistetaan käyttämällä Wildboren itsensä suunnittelemia
kankaita ja malleja. Näihin lukeutuvat ylellinen satiini, babycord-
sametti, kevyt bambufarkkukangas ja luonnonmukainen
chino-kangas. Kaikki tuotteet käyvät sekä miehille että naisille.

Monkee Genes was born in 2006 out of a frustration and boredom with the jeans market and offers a fresh, vibrant and youthful direction.

Quality of fit and make are high on our schedule, in a world of cheap and disposable fashion manufactured without soul or identity, Monkee Genes offers an antithesis.

From 2008 onwards Monkee Genes has been awarded the Soil Association organic standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard / “G.O.T.S”.
This makes us the first and only jeans wear label with this accreditation.
No pesticides and no chemicals are used.
The Soil Association ethos means all factory working standards are vetted and are considered as important as the environmental factors. This involves each and every stage of the process being taken into consideration from the cotton growth and picking down to the content of the button and label.
